After 198 games and 441 goals, Billy Brownless wound up his AFL career with 4 grand final appearances under his belt and his name third on Geelong's all-time goalkicking list behind Gary Ablett and Doug Wade.

Since then, just like his time in the forward line, his media career has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. The inaugural winner of the Mirrool Silo Kick, where Billy claims to have kicked the ball at least 80 metres over the MirroolSilos, he is one of the all-time characters of the game who will amuse and captivate any audience.
Billy Brownless carved his name into the Geelong history books by kicking a goal after the siren to beat Footscray in the 1994 qualifying final, and 11goals in a game at the Gabba. Since then he has carved his name into the hearts and minds of his many followers with a fabulous media career.

When Billy retired from football he moved into the media, appearing regularly on The Footy Show, appearing in a segment called "The House ofBulger" as the family's matriarch Joybell Bulger!

He joined 95.5 K-Rock in Geelong as a sales representative. Soon, on their "BigMattress" breakfast show, he co-hosted a sport/comedy segment called "OnThe Bench" with ex-Geelong player Dwayne Russell and the Essendon fanatic"Ferret" (Russell Taylor), twice a week. A long list of Geelong players was included in "On The Bench" as special guests including Barry Stoneham, TimMcGrath and Paul Couch.

He also co-hosted Morning Glory, a weekday breakfast show on Melbourne radio station SEN 1116, finishing his 5-day a week stint in 2008, and then appeared on
Before the Bounce, a weekly football show on Foxtel alongside Jason Dunstall until the end of the 2008 AFL season.

In 2010 Billy joined Triple M Melbourne's drive show The Rush Hour with James Brayshaw and in January 2020, he appeared in the sixth season of the Australian version of ā€˜Iā€™m a Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!ā€™

Billy is a relaxed and easy-going performer well used to being in the spotlight. Charismatic and affable he has that rare ability to engage audiences from all walks of life, football fans or not, and entertain them effortlessly.
